A few specific fixes for morgan-kelly.co.uk

Morgan Kelly Solicitors · Castleworks, Westgate Street, Lewes BN7 1YR · website rebuild

I rebuild small-business sites in my spare time when I can see they are leaving conversions on the table. I spent half an hour on morgan-kelly.co.uk, on the SRA register, on Companies House, on the Sussex Express and Good-Solicitor-Guide directory listings for Castleworks, and on a mobile phone with the deep-navy palm-leaf photographs of the office open. Three things stood out, all of them about a Lewes practice presenting a quieter version of itself than the public record on file deserves.

01

Castleworks on Westgate Street is the firm's most distinctive Lewes address, and morgan-kelly.co.uk lists only Uckfield as the contact-page office.

What I saw

The firm trades from two Sussex offices: Castleworks, Westgate Street, Lewes BN7 1YR (in the Lewes Castle conservation area, two minutes from the medieval West Gate and the Norman keep) and 91a High Street, Uckfield TN22 1RJ. The Sussex Express, 192.com and Good Solicitor Guide directory listings name Castleworks as the firm's main client-meeting premises with the 01273 407 970 number. The firm's own contact page lists only the Uckfield address and the 01825 280 355 number. A potential client searching "solicitor near Lewes Castle" or "conveyancing Westgate Street Lewes" finds the directory listings before they find morgan-kelly.co.uk because the firm's own homepage holds no schema and no above-the-fold sign of the Lewes office at all. The most distinctive single thing the firm owns, a Castleworks address in the most recognisable conservation area on the south coast, is currently below the fold and below the schema.

What the rebuild does about it

After rebuild: the Castleworks address surfaced in the header utility bar, the hero eyebrow ("Lewes & Uckfield, Sussex"), the hero subtitle ("Castleworks, Westgate Street") and as the first card in a two-card Visit section that names both offices with their own Google Maps embed, telephone, walk-from-station distances and conservation-area context. A LocalBusiness JSON-LD block names both addresses, both phone numbers and both opening-hours specifications so an AI assistant asking "solicitor at Castleworks Lewes" gets Morgan Kelly first.

02

The four-hour callback guarantee and the same-day correspondence promise are the firm's strongest single proof points and the live homepage runs them as two short footer-style bullets.

What I saw

The home page advertises a "Call back guarantee" (within four hours) and a "Same day service" for correspondence as two small footer bullets. Both are genuine. The firm is a one-solicitor regulated practice (the SRA register confirms Sarah Morgan-Kelly as the sole regulated solicitor under SRA 624343) which is the structural reason the same-solicitor promise can be staffed for rather than advertised. The current site does not connect the dots. The two service-level promises sit alone, without the same-solicitor backing that makes them credible, and a visitor who reads "four-hour callback" wonders which paralegal is paid to call back rather than which solicitor is on the file.

What the rebuild does about it

After rebuild: a same-solicitor specialism block immediately under the practice grid. Three numbered guarantees (four-hour callback, same-day correspondence, same-solicitor throughout) tied to one explanation: Sarah Morgan-Kelly is the sole regulated solicitor, opens every file personally, runs every matter and signs every completion statement. A small inline SVG case-flow diagram shows the path from first call to engagement letter to completion all routed through the same name. The promise stops being a footer bullet and starts being the firm's defining structural claim.

03

The Who-We-Are page names Sarah and Emma with photographs but no SRA number, no qualification date, no department and no tenure year, while the directory listings describe a different headcount entirely.

What I saw

The /who-we-are page lists Sarah Morgan-Kelly (Director, Solicitor-Advocate) and Emma Gearing with photographs and short biographies. Neither carries an SRA number, qualification date, department head badge or joining year. The Sussex Express directory listing for the Lewes premises meanwhile describes "3 expert lawyers based in their main Lewes premises", and a visitor cannot reconcile that with the two faces on the firm's own page. The 2025 Solicitor-Advocate qualification (the firm's biggest 2025 news) and the 2008 founding-in-Lewes story (the firm's biggest provenance) live in the same paragraph and neither gets a date or a badge in the layout.

What the rebuild does about it

After rebuild: a two-card principal grid that names Sarah Betty Morgan-Kelly (SRA 332524, qualified December 2004, Solicitor-Advocate (Criminal) 2025, on the practice since founding it in Lewes in December 2008) and Emma Gearing (senior support, joined after a local-government career). The firm-level SRA 624343 and Companies House 09511704 sit in the header utility bar and the footer regulator strip. A short founded-in-Lewes timeline runs 2008 to 2026 with the Solicitor-Advocate qualification as the most recent entry. The continuity claim is no longer a tagline, it is a date.
